To clear $50 before income tax on a US Etsy order with $20 in costs, charge at least $77.85 under the standard fee assumptions below. Enter your own costs and profit target to find the minimum price in cents.
How the reverse price formula works
Start with (target profit + costs + $0.45) ÷ 0.905. The $0.45 combines a $0.20 listing charge and the $0.25 fixed payment fee. The 0.905 is the portion left after the 6.5% transaction fee and 3% payment processing fee. The calculator then checks the amount in cents with the two percentage fees rounded separately.
| Fee | Assumption |
|---|---|
| Listing | $0.20 |
| Transaction | 6.5% |
| US payment processing | 3% + $0.25 |
When to adjust the estimate
Buyer-paid shipping and gift wrap can change the fee base, and applicable sales tax may affect payment processing. Discounts, currency conversion, ads and refunds are outside this estimate. Use the Etsy Fee Calculator to model standard fees on a specific order and the Offsite Ads calculator for attributed orders.
